About Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM)

Malaysian Skills Certification is one of the main functions of the DSD. This certification offers five (5) levels of authentication:

  •  Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 1 
  •  Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 2 
  •  Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 3
  •  Malaysian Skills Diploma (DKM)
  •  Malaysian Advanced Skills Diploma (DLKM)

Programs Overview

The Malaysian Skills Certification may be obtained through by three (3) methods :

  1. Through Training in a Recognised Institution
    Through training programmes at JPK accredited centres for specific fields and skill levels that have been accredited.
  2. Through Industry-Oriented Training (SLDN)
    Through apprenticeship with the National DualTraining System (SLDN) conducted by industries and skills training institutes.
  3. Through Accreditation of Prior Achievement (PPT)
    Obtaining the Malaysian Skills Certification through past experience (work or training). The candidate is required to submit proof of his skills competency which will be assessed by the Assessing Officer and approved by the External Verification Officer appointed by JPK.

Entry Requirement

MALAYSIAN STUDENTS

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

SPM or EquivalentGCE 'O' Levels or Equivalent
Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or its equivalent with a minimum of FIVE (5) credits in the following subjects:GCE 'O' Levels or equivalent with a minimum of Grade C in the following five subjects:
(a) Bahasa Malaysia / Bahasa Melayu(a) Science Subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology/General Science)
(b) Science Subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology/General Science)(b) Mathematics / Additional Mathematics
(c) Mathematics / Additional Mathematics(c) Any other three subjects
(d) Any other two subjectsAND
AND(d) Pass in English
(e) Pass in English and History

*Candidates with other qualifications are subject to the approval by the Malaysian Medical Assistant Board*

Candidates must be medically fit and free from mental illness or infectious diseases (HIV-AIDS / Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C) or Epilepsy or Genetic Diseases and drug abuse

Entry Requirement
SPM

Pass SPM/SPMV with 5 Credits included of 2 Science Subjects (Physic, Chemistry or Biology)

O-Level

A Pass in 0-Level with at least Grade C in FIVE (5) subject,

OR

Other equivalent qualifications recognised by MQA/Malaysian Government such as IGCSE & UEC
